The Anime NYC Convention was held in New York last month. The event was witnessed by around 53 thousand anime fans from across the US and different parts of the world. There were fans from all 50 states. Moreover, people from around 27 countries had visited the Javits Center for Anime NYC Convention.
Anime Convention Offers Some Credible Information About Omicron In US
The convention was on November 19 and 21. The organizers of the event were elated by the overwhelming response from the audience. While the Covid Conditions were still at the surge in the US. The organizers were confident about the event. The execution of the event was done effortlessly.
However, last week in Minnesota a case of Covid infection was reported after a few days of the Anime NYC convention. Soon, it was found that the Covid infection case was of the Omicron variant. The resident had contracted the Covid infection after attending the convention. This was the only second case of the Omicron variant in the US and the infected individual was fully vaccinated.
Medical experts and scientists believe that Anime Convention can offer some credible information about the spread of the Omicron Variant and its transmission. Currently, around 18 states in the US have Omicron variant Covid cases.
The experts expressed their worry about the possibility of huge transmission at the tightly packed Anime NYC convention. They also emphasized the need to introduce some travel restrictions as there is a high possibility that the variant is ultra-transmissible.
As per the preliminary reports from South Africa, the Omicron variant can spread twice as compared to the hyper transmissible Delta variant of Covid. They also suggested that the Omicron could spread swiftly as it carries more mutants than the delta variant.
The US CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) recently acknowledged the fact that Omicron is escalating rapidly in the US. The research and studies are being carried out on a large scale in various parts of the country to know the transmission rate, contagiousness, and severity of the Omicron.
As per the medical authorities, the matter of concern is the current surge in Covid cases due to the Delta variant. The massive delta wave and increase in the number of hospitalizations and Covid infection are alarming and it will further rise due to increasing cold temperatures and Christmas holidays.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention also emphasized the fact that the data and study of the Anime NYC convention can be of great use. It can enable health investors to get a clear picture of the spread of the Omicron variant. The CDC is planning to team up with other states in the US to retrace Omicron steps from Anime Convention.
Rochelle Walensky, the director of CDC addressed a press briefing on Tuesday. During the briefing, she stated, “Data from the investigation of Anime NYC convention can provide the earliest look at transmissibility of the variant. Meanwhile, as the vigilant citizens, we need to be attentive to take the vaccination, booster dose, and wear up the mask.”
