With the time going, the COVID cases are surging at a very fast pace and it is becoming problematic for all the States. As the omicron variant keeps on increasing its reach, the cases are expected to continue to rise. According to Dr. Anthony Fauci, the cases have only gone up and are expected to go higher in the coming weeks and there are high chances of covid 19 wave which will disrupt the complete medical system in the US.
The Rising Cases Are Still A Problem For The Medical Centers In The US
According to some medical experts in the United States, the holiday gatherings have contributed to increased rates of cases in the state and on the eve of Christmas Day, thousands of people were quarantined.
As per the updates, many airlines in the US planned to cancel some of their flights considering the increasing omicron cases. The major reason stated by the companies to call off the flights was due to their staff getting infected with the deadly virus and it directly affected the availability of labor at the airports.
The Omicron variant has already surpassed the number of cases being caused by the delta version and has become the new dominant strain in the United States. Though the strain is highly contagious it is known to have mild hospitalization and severity of infection. Medical experts are claiming that the new variant will cause at least 70 percent fewer hospital admissions.
The delta variant will always remain the most lethal strain as it is the major cause of more than 50 percent of the total deaths in the United States since its outbreak.
As per some medical scholars in the US, the strain will attack more citizens which will increase the hospitalization rate and it will surely lead to an increase in the pressure on the hospitals.
In some parts of the United States, there is a huge shortage of nurses, and keeping in mind the current scenario the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has decided to cut down the quarantine period for the health care workers to seven days against the current time of 10 days.
Dr. Anthony Fauci also claimed that more people will get infected in some days as the cases are increasing by more than 50 percent. The fact that omicron spreads quickly but causes mild symptoms provides time to public health authorities to curb the cases.
As per the US CDC and The World Health Organization, people who are still unvaccinated are at a greater risk of getting infected and will lead to more death rates due to low immunity power and covid 19 virus directly disrupts the immunity system also they will be a more threat to the vaccinated people.
According to the US CDC, around 64 percent of American citizens are fully vaccinated and approximately 57 million citizens are yet to get vaccinated. Vaccination is the only way to stay protected and intact at the time of a wave.
