The wake of the new Covid variant Omicron is the latest major concern of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The rise in the number of Covid cases of Omicron variant is driving high infection levels in Florida. As per the news, the State of Florida has surpassed more than 4.5 million cases since the start of the pandemic.
The Rising Cases In The State Of Florida Have Become A Major Concern
The US CDC has been keeping an eye on the various modes of transport and has again started to target cruise ships. In the month of October, a cruise ship was detained and most of the travelers were detected with the delta variant.
Recently CDC announced that around 88 vessels have been kept under routine investigation to track the spread of the Omicron variant.
However, no official figures are confirmed by the CDC. Yet it is speculated that the major cause of the increase in Covid cases in Florida is the Omicron Covid variant.
The cases in the State of Florida are increasing very fast and after California reached the level mark of over 5 million total cases, Florida is expected to be the second state which will hit this mark in some days. Also, during the festive time, Florida state recorded the highest number of Covid infection cases and mostly with the omicron variant.
There is an increase of more than 80 percent as the previous highest daily case record was 29,400 infections and on Tuesday 46,900 new cases were found in the state. In the last 7 days of Christmas Florida has witnessed the greatest rise in the omicron Covid infection breaking all the records.
The overall hospital admissions were 75000 in the entire nation and Florida has become a major contributor to the hospitalization rate. It has been seen that the hospitalizations due to the new variant of Covid 19 amongst the vaccinated and unvaccinated have also increased drastically. From 1200 hospitalizations in the previous week to 3400 hospital admissions in the current week, the sleepless nights for the state administration have already begun.
The political leaders of the state are urging the US CDC to bring some new rules and take some precautionary measures to curb the further spread of highly contagious omicron variants cases in Florida and has also requested the CDC to halt the cruise lines as soon as possible so that no further cases can be detected and there must be some major cruise rules must be laid down.
On the other hand, Dr. Rochelle Walensky has already commented on the current situation and stated that as of now there are no plans and policies to halt the cruise lines in the state and if there will be a major outbreak in the cases will be detected the CDC will take into consideration the request from the State.
Meanwhile, the federal agency in the US is advising its citizens to avoid Cruise Travel unless it is an emergency or a necessary travel requirement and the traveler must follow all the basic covid 19 precautions while traveling.
