Keeping in view the rising omicron variant coronavirus cases, the US Center for Disease Prevention and Control made it compulsory for vaccinated people to wear masks, especially when residing in high transmission areas.
Also, after relaxing the isolation period for the infected patients to 5 days from 10 days the FDA also recommended making amendments to this decision and also adding a compulsory mask for 5 days after producing a negative report of covid 19.
When during the month of September 2021, President Biden came with the mask mandate rule, many states opposed the rule and did not follow the same on the grounds of federalism.
Last year after a reduction in the cases and pre delta phase, it was announced that people could avoid social distancing and wearing masks and continue with day-to-day routines, but after the delta strain hit the US, the same rule was sacked and the government asked the citizens to wear a mask at any cost.
In various states of the USA, the central government has made it necessary to wear masks in public to stay protected from the virus. This is done irrespective of the state mandates and the driving force remains the safety of people in any situation.
Also, as per the news, the states which were continuously opposing the mask mandate rule made by the Central government and even filed the lawsuit against the White House to sack the mandate are now favoring the mask mandate and encouraging their citizens to wear a mask even indoors as it will provide more safety.
The State of New York was the first one to announce the mask mandate rule for all the unvaccinated citizens and the vaccinated ones have to show the vaccine proof to enter public places.
Some states even followed the mandate by the Federal Government and irrespective of the vaccine status they imposed the rule and major states include California, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Washington, Illinois, and many others.
Although some states have only imposed the mask mandate law for the unvaccinated populations.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has stated that it has been found that the states where the cases are decreasing have something in common that is the mask mandate rule.
In some states, the use of masks will be compulsory in all indoor public places like restaurants, pubs, sports arenas, and people will be required to wear masks if attending important events. Holidays became a major source of infection transmission and the precautionary measures were brought back once more to the states.
The state medical agencies must take certain steps and encourage the population to wear masks because it offers a great level of protection against the omicron variant.
