Experts Says, There May Be Days When The Virus Doesn’t Affect Lives

Most people are looking for a future, when they can spend time at their favorite beach, without masks. That seems like a distant dream, though as the Coronavirus occupies a large part of our lives. The past 25 months have turned the world into a pandemic-stricken zone, from where there seems no respite.

Experts Says, There May Be Days When The Virus Doesn’t Affect Lives

However, infectious diseases experts are other hopeful things to say about this. They are saying that soon in the year 2022, people could see days where the virus will not affect lives as much.

Experts Says, There May Be Days When The Virus Doesn't Affect Lives

Dr. Tom Frieden, who was associated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is of this opinion, lately. Now, he works with Resolve To Save Lives.

The other experts at Stanford Medicine, who occupy major roles as epidemiologists and Infectious disease specialists say that no one knows exactly, what is going to happen. There are various disease models, that can be relied upon. However, the way the Omicron is shaping up, is quite fast and furious, to be precise.

Many had anticipated the arrival of variants. But Omicron, although not as severe as the past variants, is too contagious to be taken lightly at the moment. It has been seen that more than a quarter of the total cases in the U.S. are Omicron cases.

The data is revealed by Johns Hopkins University. On Thursday, the total number of cases in the U.S. had dropped by 10%. However, other 26 states have seen a rise in case numbers. The wave seems to have reached its peak in certain places like New York and Boston.

However, in other places, it seems to be raging still, like wildfire. Take the case of the healthcare systems in Georgia. In metro Atlanta, the medical infrastructure is still in the doldrums owing to the massive rise in numbers. The hospitals are full and the authorities have to turn off emergency service seekers.

Many of the staff are down with Omicron, and the National Guards have had to take their position in the hospitals. In Minnesota, the situation is very grim. There are a huge number of Omicron cases in Louisiana. The hospitalization and death rate has increased manifold.

Infectious diseases experts are still seeing much hope, and going by what happened in South Africa, think that this too shall pass. Going back to November, Scientists first found the Omicron variant in South Africa. The cases over there rose fast and declined faster. The specialists anticipate that Omicron may also have a shorter run in the U.S. Probably in the next few weeks, cases could be coming down.

After the burning Omicron goes down, there could be a period of lull. This is what believes some of the infectious disease experts. Everybody is of the opinion that March and the upcoming spring season will be better than last year. People should be also more optimistic about the months of June and July. And, the residents can look forward to planning their individual holidays.

Much of this forecast is based on the fact that more people will be getting vaccinated in the days to come. There will also be people who are boosted, and again those who would have got the Omicron. So, a large part of the population will be able to fight the virus better.

The experts believe that the level of immunity will be quite high in the population of the U.S. That should be helping everyone with respect to Delta and the Omicron variants, which are circulating at present. Moreover, the immunity of the population may also help other variants in getting a backseat.

The availability of medicines will also affect the turn of events. Some of the experts believe that another variant could be lurking around the corner.
