The US CDC director Rochelle Walensky said that the officials need to act prepared when conditions are not clear and must follow the rules and directions of the Central Government. The State governments must implement all the laws so that the citizens must be protected from the virus.
There is still a lot of communication gap between the medical authorities and citizens related to so many things like vaccine policy, side effects of the vaccination, mask policies, and much more. The World Health organization also recognized this issue and has strictly announced that many innocent people lost their lives because of poor communication.
A good example of unpredictable situations is that earlier only the healthcare workers were told to wear masks as they were required to treat the patients. So, they had the risk of getting infected with the variant and might also pose a threat to others.
Gradually, everyone in the nation was forced to wear masks and sanitize often to avoid getting into trouble. As the situation started to get under control, the mask mandate was lifted. But, with the coming of the omicron variant, the rules again started getting set up.
She also stated that some states are completely against the mandate rules and they must consider the fact that it is for the benefit of the citizens and their lives. Vaccination has become a most important part of our life. It must be considered as a national duty to get vaccinated and also receive a booster shot if eligible.
During the interview, she also talked about reducing the isolation time period and how the CDC faced a lot of criticism for taking such a bold decision. A lot of people were confused about the new isolation rules and the changes made in the isolation period.
The isolated period was reduced to 5 days from 10 days for the healthcare workers because of the rising cases and increase in the isolated staff during the emergency time.
Although, the basic rule remained the same that after completing isolation people have to show a covid 19 negative reports and compulsory have to wear masks when in public.
The symptoms associated with Omicron include having headaches, a runny nose, sore throat, feeling fatigued and frequent sneezing. The Delta variant remains the most lethal strain in the US while omicron is still making its way through. With the emergence of new variants every now and then, people are reminded back to their worst times and feel the terror coming back.
