Green Day is an American punk rock band formed in 1986 by vocalist and bassist Mike Dirnt and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong.
For much of the band’s career, they have been a trio with Tre Cool the drummer, who replaced John Kiffmeyer in 1990 prior to the recording of the band’s second studio album, Kerplunk in 1991.

Green Day was also popularized by their radio hit “Basket Case”.

The group achieved even greater success with their next two albums, 21st Century Breakdown (2009) and iUno (2012).
21st Century Breakdown was nominated for a Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2010, making it the second time the band was nominated for this award.
