Original Percy Jackson Star Logan Lerman is thrilled with the new Disney+ show and is excited about its future. The actor is also thrilled to pass on Poseidon’s trident.
Lerman starred in the Percy Jackson film series: 2010s The Lightning Thief and 2013 sea of monsters. With him were Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson as Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood, respectively.
Of the five episodes in the book series, only two have been adapted for film. Now, Lerman says he’s excited to watch the development of the Disney+ TV series adaptation of the story that older fans have come to love and newer generations will enjoy as well.
Lerman responds to new Percy Jackson series
In his interview with The Hollywood ReporterLerman expressed his thoughts on the upcoming series:
“I’m excited too, I’m really excited. I’m curious to see it, I think everything I’ve seen so far, like on the periphery, pretty much like the cast and how they do it and Rick directs it, just makes me happy, that makes me makes fans happy, and I’m excited for this new generation to watch it.”
Lerman praises the new cast and the fact that writer Rick Riordan is involved in the creative process. Note that Riordan was not fully involved in the film adaptations and was unimpressed with them. Among the new cast of Percy Jackson series are Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri.
The actor also answered the question of the century: will he appear in a cameo role in the series? Lerman replied hesitantly: “Of course, but I’m not!“Fans have expressed interest on social media in having the original actor play the role of Poseidon, Percy’s father.
The series is currently in production as Riordan regularly shares updates online. Percy Jackson and the Olympians is set to arrive on Disney+ in 2024.
