For lying about his flight hours, Calloway, a Federal Express employee, risked losing his job. He arrived at the airport as a bareheaded traveler with a guitar case containing a crossbow and numerous hammers. He attempted to kill the crew with hammers once the plane was in the air and to turn off the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) before takeoff so that their injuries appeared more consistent with an accident. than a deliberate act.
