In connection with the death of Kayla Hodgson, 23, in Tamarac last month, police have arrested a New York woman, authorities say. The New York Police Department arrested Sakiyna Thompson, 28, Wednesday in Springfield Gardens, Queens, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
On July 25, Broward officials obtained a warrant for Thompson’s arrest. According to deputies, Thompson should be returned to Broward County for extradition, where she will be charged with first-degree murder.
On Thursday, there was no instant access to Thompson’s photo. The New York City Department of Corrections said she was imprisoned at the Rose M. Singer Center on Rikers Island. Although it is not known where Thompson was living at the time of the murder, records indicate she was originally from Jamaica.
She was lovely and dynamic. Brianna called Hodgson everyone’s hype woman. His death came much too soon and we pray for his loved ones during this difficult time.
