Doctor Dirk Greineder was sentenced to more than 30 years in prison after being found guilty of murdering his wife. His three children, family and friends all agreed that he was innocent despite the charges.
On October 31, 1999, while the two were walking in their neighborhood park, Dirk grabbed his cell phone to call 911 and report that his partner had been attacked near a pond.
Prosecutors also pointed out that Greineder was seen by witnesses leaving the area where the murder weapons were found rather than heading to the main road, where he was most likely to receive help.
The prosecution also provided evidence that the doctor delayed calling 911, that Dirk was most likely the owner of the gloves and the hammer, and that the blood found at the scene, including on Dirk’s body, did not did not support his assertions.

Dr Greineder walked his dog around Morses Pond in Wellesley with his wife Mabel, whom he affectionately called ‘May’.
Mabel’s deceased body had been clubbed and stabbed, according to Dirk, who claims he left Mabel to rest. More than 20 years have passed since Dirk Greineder was imprisoned for a crime he claims not to have committed.
The 58-year-old was discovered with her top up and her pants down. His wife suffered severe brain damage after being stabbed in the chest. Her throat had been slit. During the investigation, the authorities discovered Dirk’s secret double existence.
According to the prosecution, Dirk had been unfaithful and the Greineders’ marriage was in jeopardy. His visits to pornographic sites were recorded on his computer. Further investigations uncovered more evidence of Dirk’s extramarital encounters. A week before the murder, he contacted another swinger couple.

Elizabeth Porter admitted to being a prostitute in front of Dr. Dirk Greineder. Dr Dirk Greineder said his relationship with his wife was difficult and he needed a prostitute.
When the doctor revealed that they had already met twice, Porter decided to help him. At that time, the doctor had bought her flowers and champagne. He also made an effort to make love to her by giving her chocolate and strawberries.
Porter claimed before a grand jury in 2001 that she met Dirk Greineder while employed by an escort company, according to the Boston Herald and Globe.
Greineder admitted during his trial that his wife had ceased to be interested in sex, that he had sex with two strangers, and that he had paid two prostitutes for sex. He assured the jury that he still had feelings for her and would never consider killing her or divorcing her.
