At 9:22 a.m., reality TV star Gabe Rygaard was killed in a three-car collision on US Highway 101, a quarter mile east of Laird Road, west of Port Angeles.
His father, Craig, confirmed his son died in the crash. Deputy Chief Dan Huff of Clallam Fire District No. 2 reported that the driver of the Ford Bronco died at Olympic Medical Center from injuries sustained in the collision.
According to Huff, the collision injured seven people in three cars. Minor injuries were sustained by the others, who were treated at the scene.
State Patrol later determined that Gabe was the driver of the Bronco. State Patrol reported that Gabe’s 1995 Ford Bronco was following an eastbound black Chevrolet Tahoe in the second lane of US Highway 101 near mile post 243.
According to the complaint, as the Tahoe slowed down, his Bronco drifted to the left and struck the rear of the Tahoe.
The Bronco lost control and struck a Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling west in the opposite lane. Rygaard was not seated with his belt.
Eleven District 2 employees, an engine, two ambulances and a command vehicle were dispatched, according to Huff. Traffic was diverted at Laird Road while Route 101 remained shut down until around 3 p.m.
