To fight off the infection, Adam Richman underwent surgery and was given numerous antibiotics. He was apparently told at the time that the disease could develop intracranially and eventually spread to his brain.

Richman was told the infection on his mustache follicle was in a “danger triangle” zone because it could spread to his brain and pose life-threatening danger.
