Marvel Studios Phase Four Movie, Thor 4, spoiled its viewers in every part as comic as it was terrifying. For most Marvel fans, however, it proved to be a significant step up from the original tone and thematic structure of the Thor franchise. Even though Taika Waititi imbued his film with a terrific villain, the theatrical cut proved unable to deliver on the promise of delivering the same.

The plot of Thor 4 included Gorr the butcher god by Christian Bale whose cinematic interpretation was terribly cruel and necessary for the narrative. Armed with All-Black the Necrosword, Gorr proceeds to wish the end of all gods. But a movie with a good start had to use that cruelty to its advantage, which it didn’t.

The Manifestation of Gorr by Christian Bale in Thor 4
Thor’s fourth episode narrative prided itself on bringing in a villain who wasn’t swayed by any of Loki’s manipulations. Unfortunately, Loki’s absence was felt throughout the scripted tale, making the villain’s arc even more subversive than the rest of the film’s plot, which essentially turned out to be a love journey. and healing for the film’s titular character.
However, Christian Bale manages to bring a modicum of panache to the otherwise watered-down family film. Son Gorr is a worthy antagonist, even if Waititi guided him with a deceptive hand to a slow, unnecessary, and wrongful death. Bale’s allotted screen time was too short to be hailed as a powerful performance, and audiences were left with the bare remnants of the villainy just enough to give the plot the desired momentum.

The writer recently revealed the different versions of the ending that were pending for the film’s final showdown. Robinson also explains how crucial it was to set the right tone for Gorr’s personality.
“We worked a lot as a group. [Producer] Brad Winderbaum, Taika and myself – really trying to find the right tone, where he can fit into a Taika world and be fun, but he’s also a formidable villain. Her story is tragic, and you really want to make sure you don’t trivialize it and make it funny. You also want to give Christian times when he can play in the worlds created by Taika. It doesn’t have to be this depressed villain, who was also very important to Christian.
