In the series Lokiwe all heard Kang say, “Wait till you meet my variants!”
And ever since then, the entire Marvel fan community has been eagerly waiting to see what Kang’s plans are for Earth 616 in future Marvel movies.
There will be many variations of Kang in the next phases of MCU. But do you all know that there is a variant named Iron Lad in the comics, a young variant of Kang?
His character name is Nathaniel Richards in the comics, and in one of his incarnations in Marvel comics history, he became the Iron Lad.
He was the teenage variant of Kang the Conqueror. In the future, he is supposed to fulfill the purpose of his incarnation and be the time-traveling conqueror.
The comic plot of Iron Lad
Iron Lad didn’t know what the future held for him. At some point, Kang stepped in and showed him the purpose he was to serve in this lifetime.
Seeing the future, young Nathaniel was horrified and didn’t want to be part of it. So, he attacks his future self, Kang The Conqueror.
He used his Iron Lad costume to time travel and hid in the modern era of Earth 616. He sought out the Avengers to protect him from Kang.
In the quest, he reached Stark Towers and attempted to contact Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. But, for security reasons, he was not allowed to enter the premises.
He negotiates at Stark’s facilities and discovers that the Avengers have been disbanded in the era of Earth 616. So Nathaniel then takes over recruiting new heroes and building a team to defend himself and the planet against its future self.
Will MCU implement this story in its timeline?
While we all mourn, Tony Stark is dead in the MCU! So if Marvel decides to bring Iron Lad to Kang’s story, then probably part of the comics where Nathaniel builds a team can be implemented.
That’s because we’ve seen how the Avengers have disbanded since Endgame, and there hasn’t been a movie that hints at the old Avengers coming together and fighting for a cause.
There will certainly be new recruits! So, do you think we’ll see the Iron Lad version of Kang in MCU?
Well, we can just hope that Marvel adds all the comedic drama to the MCU timeline.
