On Saturday, Ayobiyi Cook, 29, was killed in Forestdale. Birmingham Police reported she was shot and gunshot wounds were the cause of death.
A woman was recently shot while her children were present in her own home. A policeman’s wife eventually turned out to be the woman.
The victim’s children are safe, but their mother died from a gunshot wound. Even though the cops arrived right away, it was already too late.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Ayobiyi Abeni Cook of Forestdale was shot in an alleged attack on her own property. A suspect has been identified. The 911 call was made before he was seen running.

When a 911 caller in the Forestdale neighborhood called for help at a home on Freemont Avenue, Jefferson County deputies attended the scene. Cook was pronounced dead on the spot.
According to Deputy Chief David Agee, Ayobiyi’s residence was not invaded. According to some authorities, a man was seen leaving the house before the 911 call was made. Sheriff’s detectives move quickly with their investigation after finding evidence at the scene.
Deputy Chief Coroner Bill Yates said a homicide is being investigated in the death.
