Being shot in the head and yet living to tell the story is brazen enough for the Hollywood industry. When Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin was shot in the head in the series finale Hawk Eye (2021) by his adopted daughter Maya Lopez aka Echo, fans were pretty shocked, but they knew the king of crime wouldn’t go down so easily. The recent set photos of the upcoming series Echo show Kingpin in its former glory.

Do the Echo set photos reveal a prequel story?
At the end of Hawkeye’s finale, it was revealed that Maya Lopez aka Echo was the adopted daughter of crime kingpin Wilson Fisk. Although faced with an immoral choice, she had to shoot her tutor in the face, which seemingly ended Kingpin’s reign of crime over the city. Fans aren’t convinced of the easy death given to Vincent D’Onoforio’s character, however, and are hoping for the King’s return, which the set photos seem to support.

In the comics, Kingpin was revealed to survive the gunshot wound (duh!) and wear an eye patch to cover it up. However, in the image shared above, the eye patch is not visible. This could be a hint of a prequel storyline or the filming of a flashback scene. The image has been cropped so that major spoilers aren’t revealed regarding the upcoming series.

What if Kingpin is back?
While the series likely follows the comics, Maya Lopez gets a dissatisfied response from a recovering Kingpin and later leaves the United States. After returning to New York, she collaborates with fan-favorite superhuman/mutant Wolverine, the Avengers, and Doctor Strange.
