Amid a horde of negativity and cancellation news, once again a Superman bombshell is dropped by the DC Cartel as a statement from Idris Elba hints at his return to the DC Cinematic Universe. Recently, when it was reported that a potential Bloodsport project was in the works, the actor expressed interest in doing an on-screen face-off with Superman. The actor who is currently busy promoting his next venture The beast revealed he had something big to cook up for DC and during one of those interviews he expressed his wish for a Bloodsport vs Superman showdown.

Idris Elba wants a live script of ‘Superman in the hospital’
During one of the press encounters, Idris Elba expressed his wish to see a live-action version of Superman’s story in the hospital explored in The Suicide Squad, directed by James Gunn. In The Suicide Squad, this Superman reference had a huge contribution to Bloodsport’s backstory and also added a savagery to his character. In the particular scene, Amanda Waller said that Bloodsport sent Superman to intensive care using a kryptonite bullet.

According to Idris Elba, he will be extremely thrilled if this particular scene takes place in live action:
“I would really like to tell the story of Superman. There is no doubt,” Elba says, “Bloodsport vs. Superman. It has to happen.
Although we don’t know any update on when the next Bloodsport project will arrive, but now that it’s confirmed to happen, who knows, we might come across this scene similar to how James Gunn told us surprised with the members of the Justice League at the end of Peacemaker.

Does this indicate the return of Superman?
As Idris Elba’s wish has been made public, it’s safe to say that once again rumors of Henry Cavill’s return as Superman have started to circle the internet. Not only that, but it also reignited the Snyderverse restoration rumors.

But as recently reported Fandango’s Erik DavisIdris Elba claimed that something special is brewing:
“I just spoke with Idris Elba about his new movie Beast. I asked what we would see him in next – a Marvel or DC project, and he said DC. He said he had something very important cooking for DC right now.
With all of these theories and rumors summed up, fans are still hoping for Henry Cavill to return to the DCEU. And according to the Bloodsport project, the associates of this project are still in the dark and we have to wait for updates to come from the fortress of David Zaslav.
