Bodacious pushed Hedeman to the ground, and the blood that ran through him instantly numbed him. Hedeman soon realized that his jaw was broken and the injury had disfigured his entire face.
When Hedeman arrived at the hospital, medical staff noticed that the blow had already shattered every visible bone in his face. Six titanium plates were needed to reconstruct his face, and two operations that took a total of 13 hours were needed.
Hedeman rode Bodacious again in 1995 at the PBR Finals in Las Vegas, taking first place in the standings with an 82.35 riding percentage. Due to injury, Bodacious missed 1993 to 1995, but upon his return he became more aggressive and hard to beat.
