A teenage girl detained and charged by Northfield police on August 11 is suspected of carrying out the murders of Kassandra Sweeney and her two sons on August 3.
The child will likely be tried as a minor and is charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of fabricating physical evidence.
According to the announcement made Thursday by Attorney General John M. Formella, State Police Col. Nathan Noyes and Northfield Police Chief John Raffaelly, Kassandra Sweeney, 25, and her two children Benjamin and Mason, who were 4 and 1 years old, had been killed in a triple homicide.
Responding to a 911 call, authorities arrived just after 11:30 a.m. last Wednesday and found the three victims dead inside their home.
A bouquet of flowers marks the house where Kassandra Sweeney and her two sons were murdered on August 3. The NH AG office said in the meantime that a minor has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of tampering with physical evidence in connection with their murders.
The Juvenile Guidelines, which protect the identity of minors and prohibit the disclosure of any additional information in circumstances relating to them, have been invoked to justify why no other information about the teenager has been made public.
It is uncertain whether the Sweeney family knew the child or had other information that could have allowed them to identify them, such as their age.
