Following the great success of Preyrecently released Predator prequel, there are now rumors pointing to a new Predator series in preparation. Regarding the Hulu effort which saw its release on August 5, 2022, critics and fans of the franchise claimed that the genius of Dan Trachtenberg ushered in a new era for Predator. The director having teased a potential sequel to Prey after the film’s ending credits sequence, it’s no shock that Predator also aims for mass production; perhaps in hopes of successfully keeping the franchise alive through several rounds of new projects.

The consequences of Prey’s success
Despite initial skepticism about the quality of the Predator prequel would be, following the failure of The predator (2018), fans were impressed with Hulu’s excellent world Prey. In fact, the film was so influential in its unique storytelling and world-building that Project Trachtenberg earned a Rotten Tomatoes score of 92% – even surpassing the first film in the franchise, the 1987 Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has an 80% rating.

There’s no denying that the classic franchise is now seeing its resurgence among fans and general movie connoisseurs. According to a recent GFR report, a new Disney+ Predator series is currently in talks. This news isn’t shocking, considering the franchise’s popularity has been restored, all thanks to Trachtenberg. Prey.
One thing to keep in mind about this speculation Predator series is that the demographic it will target seems to be younger teenage audiences – quite a confusing choice.

Following the postulate of Prey, that dates back 300 years, where the Predator and a powerful female warrior named Naru face off in the Comanche Nation, many fans expected to see the concept of Predator unfold in other times and periods. Some had hoped for a potential Predator film that would take place in medieval Japan, where the samurai could face the predator.
However, what people may not have seen coming was the franchise’s decision to aim for a teen-centric series. Although it may be a confusing decision, as the Predator the movies are known to be R-rated, plot details are not yet known, and the series may turn out differently than people might expect.

Perhaps the Dinsey+ series can involve younger characters battling alien species. Regardless of how the series will approach the Predator premise, fans can only hope that the legacy of Prey is up to the task and the newly relaunched franchise does not face another major setback. A promise of hope seems to be how Disney+ has recently allowed more mature projects to exist in its field. Speculation about the series having adult themes might not be too far off the mark. Only time can tell for sure.
