Early life and education
Charly Arnolt was born on July 14, 1987 in Indianapolis, Indiana USA. His mother is Charlene May Arnolt, but his father’s name remains unknown to the public. She has always been a big sports fan and started gymnastics at the age of five.
Caruso enrolled at North Central High School, but after having an accident at the age of 13 in which she lost sensation in her extremities, she was unable to attend school as a as a regular student. This caused Caruso to give up the sport for a while, and to continue her education she was homeschooled for a brief period. The person who was responsible for most of his upbringing during this time was Charlene May, who was, according to Caruso herself, his greatest inspiration in this and other difficult times in life. Towards the end of high school, Caruso briefly returned to sports, playing softball and volleyball, but was unable to pursue either sport professionally because she was deemed too short.
She then attended American University located in Washington, DC. – when she was in her second year, her parents divorced. During her studies, Caruso worked as an intern for several networks, and because of this, she had to travel all over the United States while still a student. In 2010, Caruso graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism.
When in public, she uses her professional stage name, Charly Caruso.
Career
Caruso started working for NBC’s WSAZ-TV in West Virginia right after graduation. Her job there was rather difficult, as she usually worked without a crew and traveled to many dangerous areas while covering various stories, often on dangerous topics.
She held her position from 2010 to 2011, before working for WDAF – TV in Kansas City, Missouri, owned by one of the biggest television networks, FOX. This time she worked on the Morning Live segment and was much more comfortable with her position. During this time, she wanted to be a crime reporter, as she found joy in working on homicide and SWAT cases. She worked for WDAF – TV until 2013, when she returned home to Indiana, and became a sportscaster on FOX 59, otherwise known as WXIN – T, remaining on the channel until in 2015.
In 2016, Caruso made her WWE debut, when she started working for NXT, a US-based wrestling promotion brand.
She got the job by a curious set of events; she has always been a wrestling enthusiast, and in early 2016 she was offered a backstage ticket to a major “SmackDown” event taking place in her hometown of Indianapolis. During the event, she met Mark Carrano, WWE’s Senior Director of Talent Relations, and gave him her resume, who then gave it to “Monday Night Raw” reporter Michael Cole. who initially turned her down, because at that time there were no vacancies. Several months later, however, Brandi Rhodes left WWE and Cole invited Caruso to replace her. Meanwhile, Caruso had already accepted a job in Washington, but didn’t hesitate to quit and choose WWE.
