Early life and family
Heidi Diane Watney was born in Fresno, California, United States on May 19, 1981 to parents Mike and Paula Watney.
His father was a golf player and coach, and continues to coach at Fresno State Athletics and California State University. Her cousin Nick Watney is also a professional golfer and her family was a great inspiration for her career choice. Heidi had four siblings, one brother Josh and two sisters, including Kelly Winter – her younger brother Dusty suffered from Prader-Willi Syndrome and sadly died in April 2017. Josh Watney had followed in his father’s footsteps and played golf at University. Heidi was also active in sports throughout her high school career, competing in diving, gymnastics, and track hurdles. She was also part of the cheerleading squad.

Heidi attended Clovis West High School in Fresno, then earned a National Merit Scholar Scholarship and was accepted to the University of San Diego. While in Boston, she worked as a field reporter and also appeared on “The Ultimate Red Sox Show” as a presenter.
