The arrest of Megan Joyce Mohn, 40, on January 11 was filmed by the Salt Lake City Police Department on August 11. A medical examiner determined that Mohn’s death, which occurred 19 days after his arrest, was a homicide.
According to Fox News, Salt Lake City police’s handling of the arrest, which many have cited as an example of police brutality, led the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office to conclude that the death could have been murder. .
The upset woman could be heard pleading with the officers who arrested her and expressing her fear throughout the arrest.
She said:
“I don’t want to die, please.”
The Salt Lake City Police Department released footage from three body cameras worn by responding officers amid growing public criticism of the arrest. The investigation into Mohn’s death is still open.

According to The Independent, the Salt Lake City Police Department received a report that Megan Joyce Mohn was running around with a rebar hose at 3:13 a.m. on January 11. She was later found in possession of spices and methamphetamine.
Mohn tells officers in the video that his ID was stolen as they can be heard asking for identification. She then asks the authorities for water, but they refuse. Salt Lake City Police Department Chief Chris Burbank ultimately challenged the decision to cut off his backpack.
He stated:
“What gave you the right to touch someone else’s property?” There is no legal authority that would allow them to harm his property.
She struggles with the officers for about three minutes before they can restrain her. The policeman then handcuffed her feet. After arriving at the hospital, Mohn was determined to be in critical condition. Burbank alleged police overreacted in their use of force.
Ultimately, it was the interaction with (responding officer) that led to the woman’s death.
Burbank went on to say
“We have to think about our purpose of being there. How come we’re here? Why should it be done? It was not in this situation.
Adrian Lambrinos, a supporter against police brutality and spokesperson for the Salt Lake City chapter of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, criticized the actions of the responding officers in an official statement.
He stated:
It’s disgusting. If this disgusts us, it does not surprise us either.
Lambrinos went on to say
“What we see in the video is that they are already trying to justify themselves to arrest him by obtaining identification when they arrive. Instead of helping the woman, they are more concerned with it.
Chief Burbank thinks it’s a failure on the part of the department that it took so long to open an investigation.
