Since the return of Star Wars to the big screen, we have seen many other productions tell other stories involved in the universe including Solo: A Star Wars Story. In one of the most anticipated productions under Star Wars, The Acolyte will feature Amandla Stenberg as the protagonist.

The franchise also addressed some of the criticism it faced with previous installments, including the lack of representation. He saw a more inclusive cast in the prequels, especially Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Amandla Stenberg in Star Wars?
Featured in the Star Wars series The AcolyteAmandla Stenberg was announced to join on July 22. The actor got his breakout role in The hunger Games as Rue and went on to star in many other productions such as The whirlwind and darkest minds.

Produced by Leslye Headland, the project will deviate from the usual format of being a filler between trilogies. The Acolyte will take place 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace.
Amandla Stenberg and her experience with cancel culture?
The actor opened up about how she faced racism and criticism as she faced the wrath of cancel culture. Speaking his mind and now the face of a major production, things only got worse. Commenting on the same to The Hollywood Reporter, she said:
“I like to talk openly about the person I am, and that invites the cancellation of the far right. And then there are people on the far left who think that I have done things that have not not been included.

Also commenting on the criticism she faced for taking on certain roles based on her background, she noted that she couldn’t control everything, she further expanded her view by stating:
“No matter how many times I express my true perspective on colorism or how many ways I try to decenter the privilege I have, or how many times I try to point this out to the outside. Outside the confines of my community, it’s really none of my business.

From what we know, the series will focus on the character being trained in the dark side and Sith way. Considering Star Wars has one of the most vocal fanbases, it’s no wonder she pushed forward with her no-nonsense attitude.
The Acolyte is set to premiere August 11, 2023 on Disney+.
