The two were married for over 30 years, before being arrested by police for gruesome murders, killing ten people during his spree that lasted from 1974 to 1991.

Paula Dietz was born on May 5, 1948 in Park City, Kansas USA; she spent her entire childhood in her hometown, but did not talk about her parents and siblings, if any.
Additionally, she did not disclose her education.
Paula worked as an accountant all her life, except for a brief period when she left Park City when her husband was arrested for murder. Nevertheless, she has since returned to her hometown and lives a simple life away from the media hype. She only became popular thanks to the notoriety of her ex-husband.

Dennis moved to Park City after his Air Force service ended, where he spent four years between 1966 and 1970, and began working in the meat department of a Leekers IGA supermarket. Paula and Dennis soon met and began a romantic relationship, and soon decided to get married; the wedding ceremony took place on May 22, 1971. The couple then welcomed two children, daughter Kerri and son Brian.
Serial killer Dennis Rader, also known as the BTK (Bind Torture Kill) Killer, never raped his victims because he felt it was wrong to “cheat on his wife”.

After a while, Dennis got a job as an assembler with an outdoor supply company, and then from 1974 to 1988 he worked for ADT Security Services in their Wichita office. This allowed him to inspect the neighborhood, and to visit the homes of his future victims.
Paula had no idea of her husband’s murderous personality and murderous madness, and the whole family had a good reputation in society. However, once all was revealed, Paula had no choice but to leave her husband, filing for an emergency divorce, and she and her children left Kansas to avoid public scrutiny.
She never visited her ex-husband in prison and did not even attend the court proceedings. However, according to Rader, his wife has occasionally sent him letters since his incarceration.

Born Dennis Lynn Rader on March 9, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Kansas USA, he is best known to the world as the BTK (Bind, Torture, Kill) serial killer. He is the son of William Elvin Rader and his wife Dorothea Mae (née Cook). He has three siblings, Paul Jeff and Bill. From an early age, Dennis began to display his sadistic nature, as he tortured and killed small animals.
He cross-dressed and spied on the women in his neighborhood, disguised in women’s clothing. His sexual fantasies were even worse, but kept (mostly) hidden, and neighbors considered him friendly and polite. He enrolled at Kansas Wesleyan University, but quit after a year, due to poor grades. He would eventually earn a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice in 1979 from Wichita State University.
Killing, arrest
Inspecting the neighborhood as a security alarm installer, he visited many houses which allowed him to easily enter those houses.
His first murder victims were members of the Otero family; he killed Joseph, his wife Julie, and their two children, Joseph Jr. and Josephine. His killing spree lasted until 1991 and 10 victims were discovered, although he attempted to kill several more but was unsuccessful. He was free until February 2005; the BTK Killer case was considered a cold case, but he began sending letters to local media, describing his murderous deeds in great detail. He was finally arrested on February 25, 2005 while he was in his car near his home.
At the scene, the police officer asked him if Dennis knew the reason he was being taken to the police station, and he replied “Oh, I have my suspicions why”. He was working on his eleventh murder at the time of his arrest, following his next victim for months, before carrying out his plan, fortunately foiled by the police before carrying out his plan. Charged with 10 counts of first degree murder, he initially pleaded not guilty, but later changed his statement and described all the murders. He did not offer a single apology to the families of the victims.
Dennis was sentenced to 10 consecutive life sentences with a minimum of 175 years. He is currently serving his sentence at El Dorado Correctional Facility in Prospect Township, Kansas.
During his psychological evaluation, the “popular” BTK Killer was diagnosed with Narcissistic, Antisocial, and Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorders.
His daughter Kerri published the book “A Serial Killer’s Daughter: My Story of Faith, Love, and Overcoming”, in which she wrote about her childhood and her inability to cope with the double life her father had led.
