There Shouldn’t Be A Goonies Remake
The Goonies is based on a story written by Steven Spielberg centering on a group of children who go in search of the treasure of One-Eyed Willy, a pirate. Recently, when Corey Feldman appeared in an interview, he was too quick to deny his wish for a remake:
“Let’s hope not,” Feldman said. “These remakes, they ruin everything.”

Additionally, the actor added that while he doesn’t support the idea of a remake, he can only agree to a sequel if they are done as Top Gun: Maverick and not Goose bumps:
“You mean a sequel? You don’t want a remake, because that’s what they did with Ghostbusters with the girls. No, no, no,” Feldman continued. “You want like a sequel to Top Gun, don’t you? They did it well with Top Gun.
There are a lot of complaints that sequels to classics don’t live up to the hype, but lately, Top Gun: Maverick starring Tom Cruise turned out to be an amazing sequel to a cult classic. He set a perfect example that if done well, even a classic can have a spectacular following. Not only that but even Prey turned out to be an incredible success and did the franchise justice, so hopefully if another part of The Goonies is done, then it can also turn out as good as these sequels.
