Rowling has landed in quicksand after making a controversial claim about transgender people that led to many actors, authors and people speaking out against her belief. She vehemently objected to the use of the term “menstruating people” which led to the Twitter crowd calling for its cancellation after he dubbed it transphobic. In the most recent controversy, Rowling again brings up issues of gender identity to respond to her affront to UK Society of Authors president and fellow author Joanne Harris.

JK Rowling sparks controversial debate with Joanne Harris
Anglo-French author, Joanne Michele Sylvie Harris, is best known as the author of the 1999 novel Chocolate which was later adapted into a 2000 film of the same name starring Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche. Apart from his relatively low fame and worldwide recognition, the author remains firm in his own area of expertise as head of the UK Society of Authors.

In the aftermath of the attack on Salman Rushdie at Chautauqua University, JK Rowling expressed sympathy and concern for Rushdie and satanic verses but his tweet was met with similar threats of rape and death. Harris extended her support to Rowling and “and to all who hold a similar position.” However, Harris’ response was attacked by Rowling as she stated in The temperature,
“I I have not received any communication from Harris expressing sympathy for the death and rape threats I have received.
Harris has consistently failed to criticize tactics designed to silence and intimidate women who disagree with her personal stance on gender identity ideology and has publicly stated, “Cancelling is not a big deal. word”. We usually cancel things we no longer want.

Joanne Harris responds to Rowling’s accusations
In response to JK Rowling’s claims, Joanne Harris responded,
“I have always said loud and clear that I condemn threats of all kinds, towards anyone. This goes for people with whom I disagree as well as those whose opinions I share. Freedom of expression is for everyone, and when one person loses it, we are all in danger.
Yes, I support trans rights. I also have a son who came out as trans a few months ago. But my personal feelings about the critical gender movement don’t affect my belief in free speech, or what I do for the @Soc_of_Authors”
Salman Rushdie is currently recovering from multiple stab wounds at a hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania.
