Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood right now. He recently voiced Krypto in the movie, DC League of Super Pets, alongside Kevin Hart. He is also set to appear as the titular character in black adam, out soon. The actor has been promoting his two DC movies and recently claimed that a Marvel vs DC crossover movie could be happening.
He’s always been able to grab fans’ attention with his words, but the actor seems to be overly optimistic about his claims. Not too long ago, he even claimed that Henry Cavill’s Superman was part of his next movie.
The Rock spoke too soon with his Marvel vs DC crossover claim
The actor, in a promotional interview with Total Film Magazine for its upcoming issue, claimed he was “optimistic” that the Marvel vs DC crossover movie is coming soon.
According to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson,
“Just my nature is optimistic. And especially when it comes to creation. Especially when it comes to movies. And especially when it comes to DC’s pantheon of superheroes and villains. Across the street, we have Marvel’s Hall of Fame Super Heroes and Villains. For me, not only can they exist, but they should, in my mind, cross paths one day.
As the actor has worked with Disney and is now a part of DCEU, does he have any insiders on talks between the two studios or is he just saying something fans of the superhero genre want to hear to make headlines? newspapers ? There is no such confirmation or information from either studio and also looking at the recent Warner Bros. merger. and Discovery, that might not be happening anytime soon.
Would a Marvel vs DC crossover happen?
It might be a bit rude to say it’s completely impossible. Both franchises are the biggest names in the superhero genre that have dominated screens for over a decade. Fans of both franchises have always had a sense of competition, arguing over who is better, but both groups have always hoped for a collaboration. It could settle the debate or be the greatest superhero team-up in movie history.
Previously, DC and Marvel have come together for fan service with crossover events like JLA/Avengers and Amalgam comics. And recently, fan service also picked up the movies with hints of Michael Keaton’s return as Batman, as well as Ben Affleck; Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Professor X and John Krasinski appearing as Mr. Fantastic in the Doctor Strange sequel.
So, there might be chances of it happening. But not anytime soon. DCEU is also facing issues related to its cast members and the recent merger has resulted in the cancellation of many upcoming projects. Along those same lines, Disney might not be ready to collaborate with the studio until it’s in a better place.
As for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, we will see him in Black Adam which will be released on October 21, 2022.
