Early life and education
On February 26, 1931, Tewson was born in Hampstead, London. His mother, Kate (née Morley, b.1908), was a nurse and a descendant of Haydn Morley, captain of Sheffield Wednesday in the 1890 FA Cup final. William, his father, was a professional musician who played the double bass in the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Tewson attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after completing her primary education, where she graduated in 1952.
She was a frequent comedic performer in sketches featuring Ronnie Corbett and Ronnie Barker on David Frost Sunday and Hark at Barker (1969), and she later made an appearance on the BBC Radio comedy show Mostly Monkhouse with the Bob Monkhouse supporter, David Jason. Additionally, she made a few appearances on The Charlie Drake Show and Z-Cars (1963-1969). (1968).
