A wealth of never-before-seen concept art by Sam Raimi Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, gives us a glimpse of the parts of the movies we missed. From in-film artifacts to deleted fights between the two main characters and more, it’s a fascinating glimpse into what we might have seen in theaters last May.
Shake-Up Director

Many of us remember the news about Scott Derrickson, the director of strange doctor, leave the sequel due to creative differences. It was well known at the time that he was quite far into the script, and judging by the concept art, the rumors that Nightmare would be involved certainly seem to be true.

Nightmare is an extremely popular character among Doctor Strange fans, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, he was the first villain Stephen Strange ever faced. With Loki’s exit, even though Derrickson was long gone, rumors of Nightmare appearing intensified after a throwaway line referring to the character. Sadly, at least in the character’s last outing, we haven’t seen him yet.

One of the few elements of Derrickson’s script to remain in the rewritten final product was the reintroduction of Stephen and his sister. Although it was mentioned in some awkward dialogue between our Strange and Sinister Strange, the concept art below hints at what could have been a much bigger part of the script. Strange is oddly devoid of much backstory, with very little about his life before he became a superhero, and if nothing else, that potential scene with his sister on the lake would have provided a bit more emotional depth. to the character in something that’s not about Christine.

Deleted fight scene

It’s not exactly a secret that movies often lose scenes in the editing room, or even before they’re filmed, they end up being cut for pacing and time. There were certainly a lot of things to take away from Strange’s latest adventure, and some of them certainly detracted from the final product. In all MCU projects, we have to lose as much if not more content in pre-production and editing than we actually see.

Featuring a deleted scene between Strange and Wanda, it begs the final question of why we weren’t treated to an extended one-on-one battle between the MCU’s two most powerful magic users, if not. is for no other reason than the pure spectacle of it all.

This is just a smattering of the leaked/published concept art, go look for yourselves and find yourself on a deep dive into what could have been. Time will tell if the quasi-guarantee doctor strange 3 will delve further into Strange’s personal life, his past with his sister, and whether or not we’ll see Nightmare rearing his head, especially now that we’ve been introduced to Clea. For me, all of the above, focusing a bit more on Strange, not his secondary characters next time around.
