We are not far from the release of the Star Wars spin-off series Andor. Star Wars Andor is coming to Disney Plus on September 21, 2022, with its first three episodes.
Ahead of its release, we have another piece of news on our hands, namely the re-release of the original trilogy prequel, Star Wars Rogue One, returning to theaters in the US on August 26, 2022.
Why is Disney re-releasing Rogue One?
Star Wars Rogue One was one of Disney’s top Star Wars films, being the second highest grossing film after Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens.
It was criticized for its CGI of reviving Grand Moff Tarkin as well as Princess Leia. Despite this, fans still consider it the best Star Wars movie to date.
Why wouldn’t Disney want to bring its blockbuster back to the big screen for fans to relive, ahead of its next prequel spin-off series. A clever way to get fans to revisit and feel and love the characters again.
What is the connection between Andor and Rogue One?
Andor revolves around the character of Captain Cassian Andor, who we saw in Star Wars Rogue One. Captain Andor, the film’s deuteragonist, received acclaim from fans and became a fan favorite.
After this response, Disney announces Andor, a prequel to Star Wars Rogue One, set five years back. And again, give fans a taste of what they didn’t ask for but wanted so badly.
Is Andor an origin story?
With the two trailers in our hands, we can understand that Andor is yet another Rogue One Captain Andor origin story. It tells us the story of how Cassian Andor, began to work for the resistance of the empire.
We see how he infiltrated the Empire’s military and started helping the rebellion bring down the Empire. As the series should focus on the adventures of Captain Andor, his origin doesn’t really seem to be a big part of the series.
The preview released with the Rogue One re-release will likely clear up the plot even more for us. Well, with the 2016 hit returning to theaters and with its subsequent hit TV shows, Disney continues to feed its audience with good and promising content.
