‘He should have been the hero instead of ‘know-it-all’ Rey’: Star Wars fans back John Boyega’s rejection, says Moses Ingram controversy opened his eyes

The Star Wars sequel trilogy has often come in for a lot of flak from fans as well as criticism for its poor storyline and disappointing character arcs. While everyone expected it to be as superior as the previous films, the new trilogy turned out to be a complete mess. Now, according to new reports, John Boyega who played Finn will no longer be returning to the franchise. Even though the sequel trilogy is now complete and the franchise needs another storyline to follow, it’s safe to say that Finn won’t be spotted anytime soon.

Besides announcing that he will no longer be in the franchise, John Boyega also addressed the issue of racism in the fandom. He said that when he first entered the franchise, he also faced the same fate due to the sudden diversity that Disney decided to introduce into the movies. But it was different back then because Disney didn’t take care of it with the care they do now with Moses Ingram.

In the recent Obi Wan Kenobi series, actress Reva Moses Ingram has had to deal with numerous racist remarks. Even several other stars came to support the actress when things were going too well.

Addressing this issue, John Boyega said he now feels good about how the creators and other cast members handled the issue and showed up to support Ingram:

“I felt peace. Moses Ingram being protected, I feel protected. Do you understand what I say? It makes me feel like, ‘Okay, cool. I am not the elephant in the room. Because when I started, it wasn’t really a conversation you could have. You know how they got there. It was kind of like, ‘Let’s just be quiet.’ It wasn’t a conversation you could bring up. But now to see how egregious it is, to see Ewan McGregor come in and support… That, for me, fills up my time where I didn’t get the support.

So it’s clear that Boyega is no longer interested in returning to the franchise and according to fans, they think it’s the right move as the franchise is solely responsible for his character’s downfall.

Fans are very supportive of Boyega’s decision as they were completely disappointed with how badly his story was written despite his potential. Now, after his statements on the SiriusXM show, the fandom is on the side of the idea that Finn could have been the protagonist instead of Rey. The debate centered around Rey and her character arc has been debated for a long time ever since the release of the sequel trilogy. So it’s pretty obvious that Star Wars fans are still crazy about the decisions Disney made and what the creators did to Finn’s character as a result of which they stand by John Boyega.
