She-Hulk: LawyerThe first episode of made appropriately sized numbers for Disney Plus viewership, more than doubling viewership Ms. Marvel received.
She-Hulk premiered on Disney Plus last week, August 18, and the Tatiana Maslany-directed Marvel series has been a hit. The series’ early viewership figures are comparable to Oscar Isaac’s moon knight.
The numbers were reported by Samba TV and reveal a promising start for Marvel She-Hulk: Lawyer.
Samba TV is a service that tracks viewership in the United States and has reported that She-Hulk: LawyerThe first episode of more than doubled the viewership of the recent Ms. Marvel first.
Samba TV revealed that She-HulkThe first episode of drew 1.5 million viewers in the United States in the Live+3 window, that is, within three days of the episode’s release. Obviously, these are not global viewership figures and not all households are measured, so this should be taken with a small pinch of salt.
In the same window, Ms. MarvelThe first episode of only drew 662,000 viewers. Ms. Marvelof the direct competition Disney Plus of Obi Wan Kenobiwhich released episodes on the same day, and She-HulkThe extra star/cameo power may have contributed to the ratings difference.
Cole Strain, vice president of measurement products at Samba TV, said of She-HulkThe first digits of:
“Disney+ delivered a massive audience size with the premiere of its latest Marvel program She-Hulk. While recent female-led superhero series have seen a drop in viewership, or in the case [of] Batgirl, were completely canceled, She-Hulk bucked that trend, more than doubling the first weekend viewership of the latest Marvel series, Ms. Marvel, and delivered numbers on par with Moon Knight.
“Stars like Tatiana Maslany and Mark Ruffalo helped make it a big hit with Gen Z, Millennials, Black and Hispanic households who all over-indexed their viewership.”
She-HulkMark Ruffalo’s closer ties to existing MCU properties, such as Hulk, will likely have helped boost the show’s performance, attracting fans who want to see more of Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner. The star power of Tatiana Maslany, who already has a large fan base after her work in black orphanis also likely a contributing factor.
