The boys, after a hugely successful third season, has already started making headlines for its upcoming fourth installment. The show which is a fan favorite and critically acclaimed effort developed by writer and producer Eric Kripke has been in the spotlight for quite some time now. From its brilliant and satirical deconstruction of the superhero genre to some of the most hilarious moments that could have come from contemporary media, the Prime Video series is making waves. And now, with the inclusion of Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the subversive mix, things on the ever-growing acclaimed series may get a little more diabolical.

The Supernatural alum, who was seen in the role of John Winchester, is officially part of the cast for season 4 of the series. The news sounds pretty exciting to a lot of Supernatural fans, who got to see Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy in Season 3. As Eric Kripke’s two worlds seem to collide, many are rather curious to see what The Walking Dead the actor brings to the crazy, violent and ridiculous world of The boys.
The Boys Just One-Upped DC
As for the actor who is renowned for his charismatic and villainous portrayal of Negan from The walking dead, DCEU fans had high expectations for Morgan’s involvement in the franchise as the Flashpoint Batman. In Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, we saw the esteemed actor make a momentary appearance as Thomas Wayne. With the rumor mill doing its job, many assumed that the watchmen alum would be a perfect choice for the DCEU’s interpretation of the Breaking point script.
Years have passed, and even with the production of the upcoming and highly controversial 2023 DCEU movie, flash, which is said to be loosely inspired by Breaking point comics, nothing has ever been confirmed regarding Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s appearance as Flashpoint Batman. Last year, the actor himself hinted at his interest in reprising his role as Thomas Wayne and potentially playing a rendition of the Caped Crusader – who happens to be the actor’s favorite superhero.

In an interview with CinePOP in 2021, the actor said the following:
“I love the Flashpoint Batman story. Who knows? Who knows with DC? Who knows how these franchises work? I guess I probably have another two, three year window, and then I’ll be too old. He There’s no way. So, look, I’m available. Everybody knows I’m available. I say I’m available, I’ve been saying that for five years.
While DC, as is evident with the latest round of controversy surrounding the flashdid not take the opportunity, The boys, on the other hand, managed to strike while the iron was hot. The whole situation is quite ironic, indeed – given the subversive dissection of DC influences seen on the Amazon Prime show. It’s now a waiting game to see how far Morgan’s role on the show will go. Fans and the general public want a probable result.

The internet is simply overjoyed. For Supernatural fans, the most exciting part of the news is the hope of potentially seeing Jensen Ackles and Jeffrey Dean Morgan interact on screen again. Although the guarantee remains questionable, given the whole sequel to Soldier Boy in the season finale. On the other hand, for fans of The boys, the announcement sparks speculation regarding Morgan’s character in the series. We all know how great his portrayal of Negan in The Walking Dead has been. Would his return as a villain in the Prime Video series be exaggerated? Maybe not. Only time can really tell.

While character details for the cast remain under wraps, fans are simply overwhelmed, enthralled, and eager to see what absurd premise the show’s next installment dives deep into. The end of Season 3 hints at a twisted turn of events, with people expressing support for Homelander’s cruelty, albeit veiled under the guise of “patriotic heroism.” With anticipation increasing every day, it is proving difficult to simply wait.
