The actor was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016 and very few people knew about his condition as he underwent multiple surgeries and chemotherapy. In 2020, the actor died of complications from cancer at his home in Los Angeles.

Since the actor’s death two years ago, the question of who will be the next Black Panther has been repeatedly raised by fans. Many assumed it would be Letitia Wright who would play the King’s younger sister, while many wanted Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger to return and take on the role.

Letitia Wright also commented on the difficulty of filming the sequel without Chadwick Boseman, describing the feeling as surreal. Asked by MTV News at San Diego Comic-Con who would play the next Black Panther, she replied:
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, but on November 11, you get your ticket.”
The legacy of Chadwick Boseman
Among all the ways he served his community, his donation of protective equipment to hospitals stood out. He had started a program called Operation42, through which he had donated $4.2 million worth of PPE equipment to hospitals serving black communities.
While fans appreciated the actor’s philanthropy, many were concerned about the actor’s appearance as he promoted the initiative in a live video. The actor had also offered a sick child, Nate Moore, a package of toys and had written his last text on the package, it said:
“If we could ease their pain and bring joy for a while, and hopefully moments while he was going through the bags, then we made a difference in his life.”

Marvel has also been very careful trying to maintain Chadwick Boseman’s legacy, with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler assures fans that the actor’s death will be treated with taste and respect.
