5 Good Guys Gone Bad In The MCU

The MCU has been around for over a decade. It gave us plenty of heroes to look up to. However, we also found that due to certain circumstances, not all guys stay good all the time. They end up doing questionable things. So, let’s take a look at some of the good guys gone bad in the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the years.

Wanda Maximoff

wanda

Let’s start with one of the heroes we all love (d). From across the Avengers in Avengers: Age of Ultron to becoming one of them, she’s been on quite the journey.

After Vision’s death in Endgame, Wanda is overcome with grief and continues to fascinate the people of Westview. She created an alternate reality where Vision was alive and the couple even have children. However, she again had to give up everything, and this began her real journey into the abyss.

After coming into possession of the Darkhold, Wanda’s soul is corrupted by the mystical book and she ends up unleashing chaos throughout the multiverse. In order to be with her children again, she attempts to steal America Chavez’s powers and even ends up killing Dr. Strange in one of the universes.

Because of her grief, Wanda went from being one of the Avengers to one of the worst threats Strange still faces in the MCU. While we see her change her mind at the end of Dr Strange: Multiverse of Madness, it’s unclear what the future holds for her. Just in case, if she survived the Debris and returns in future Marvel movies, it’ll be fun to see Dr. Strange and the Scarlet Witch team up against Kang the Conqueror.

Gorr: The Butcher God

We get a brief introduction to Gorr before he becomes the God Butcher at the start of Thor: Love and Thunder. He was a member of a tribe that strongly believed in the god Rapu and his promise of eternal reward. His tribe went through several hardships throughout his life to please the gods and Gorr even lost his daughter whom he loved very much.

After his daughter’s death, Gorr meets his God, expecting him to keep his promise of eternal reward, but he discovers that Rapu didn’t care much for his tribe or their sacrifice. This enraged Gorr, and multiplied by corruption by the Necrosword, he goes on a God-killing spree and becomes God’s Butcher.

Similar to Wanda, Gorr was also formally a good person who was then overcome by grief and corrupted by a mystical weapon, and ended up doing something horrible.

Karl Mordo

Played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mordo was a close ally and friend of the Ancient One. He even trained Dr. Strange with the other new recruits.

During the fight with Kaecilius, he learned that the Ancient One drew his power from the Dark Dimension, which shocked him. On top of that, after the Elder’s death, his colleagues’ regular violation of natural laws pushed him over the edge. He turned his back on his allies and went his own way.

In the post-credits scenes, he is seen stripping wizards of all their power. We haven’t seen the main universe version of Mordo since the first Dr. Strange movie, but it looks like a battle between him and Dr. Strange is on the way.

Aldrich Killian

Aldrich Killian

Does anyone remember the Extremis virus from the movie Iron Man 3? Yeah, it’s that guy. Aldrich Killian was the main antagonist of the movie Iron Man 3. Although before becoming a firebomb he was not a villain.

When he first appeared in the movie, he was a weak nerdy scientist. He told Stark about his Advance Idea Mechanics (AIM) and Tony asked him to meet on the roof in 20 minutes to discuss it further.

Aldrich waited 1 hour and 20 minutes and he finally realized that Tony would never show up. He felt weak, invisible, disappointed, and angry, and that set the stage for his villainous origin story.

Kamran (from Ms. Marvel)

Let’s end our list with one of the most recent additions to the MCU. Kamran is Najma’s son and he is an illegal immigrant. When he first appeared, he seemed like a good guy. We also see him go against his own family to watch over Kamala. However, after losing her mother and gaining Ms. Marvel-like powers, things start to change a bit.

The first of his incidents are unintentional, but at the end of the series he attempts to destroy the entire city due to his rage.

Even if Kamala manages to calm him down momentarily and help him escape, he could be a potential villain in future Ms. Marvel projects, given that he’s one in the comics. However, Marvel took a completely different approach with this series, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he redeemed himself.

Anyway, that sums up our list of a few good people who, because of one thing or another, turned into bad guys or did some regrettable things.
