John Boyega reveals what he thought of Colin Trevorrow’s plans for Star Wars episode IX.
John Boyega has become a household name thanks to his role as Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. A former First Order Stormtrooper, he left the Order to join the Resistance and was one of the main characters in the film. As the series progressed, however, her role was reduced to make room for Daisy Ridley’s Rey and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron.
Disney’s latest movie star wars the sequel trilogy was originally slated to be directed by jurassic world helmsman Colin Trevorrow. For reasons that have always been somewhat vague, Disney and Lucasfilm cut Trevorrow from the project and scrapped everything he had planned. JJ Abrams would go on to reprise the film, resulting in a film that received mixed reviews from critics and became the lowest-grossing entry in the sequel trilogy.
Since the film’s release, details of the movie that Colin Trevorrow had originally planned have started leaking on a regular basis. Among the plans was a finale on Coruscant and the end of John Boyega leading an army himself. The actor has never been quiet about how he thinks Disney is handling his character, but hasn’t had much to say about Trevorrow’s film project so far.
A reunion of Star Wars nerds
During a recent interview with the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, John Boyga revealed his thoughts on Colin Trevorrow’s project. star wars movie and how he was heartbroken about what could have been:
“I can’t read that one because I’m going to be heartbroken, because I was… I had an interview with Colin. I want to tell you…this is one of the best Star Wars reunions…I’ve ever had because it was like two nerds going, “Yeah, that’s what we want to see!” …And I saw the art, you know, the Stormtrooper Rebellion, I was like, that stuff was cold.
