Jonathan started as Chief Executive of Ofgem on 3 February 2020; he was appointed as an executive member of GEMA in 2018 and will remain until January 2025.
The CEO has extensive experience in the energy sector and, as Director of Energy Markets and Networks at DECC, he led the reform of the electricity market. Likewise, he was also Director of the Office of Climate Change.
In addition, he was a senior adviser from 2002 to 2006 in the Prime Minister’s strategic unit and was a teacher at GEOS. Likewise, he also ran a consulting company according to his LinkedIn profile.
Additionally, Brearley attended the University of Glasgow and earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics. Likewise, he obtained his masters degree from the University of Cambridge in Economics.
