Warner Bros. Discovery had decided not to go ahead with the 2022 DC FanDome event, which has been held every year since 2020.
The state of Warner Bros. Discovery is one that can rightly be described as a mess at the moment. Following the official merger between Discovery and Warner Bros, the company has taken a somewhat controversial direction. It started with the cancellation of bat girlthe removal of several HBO Max series and the delay of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Shazam! Fury of the gods. But now it looks like the company is adding the DC FanDome event to the list of cancellations.
What is the DC FanDome?
The DC FanDome was something Warner Bros set up in 2020 as a partial response to the Covid-19 pandemic. As conventions around the world closed, the company opted to set up its own virtual convention that was strictly dedicated to DC-related content. Now it seems that the new regime of the company no longer wants to continue the event. In a statement, Warner Bros. Discovery cited the return of in-person events and conventions as the reason for the cancellation of the 2022 DC FanDome:
“With the return of in-person events, Warner Bros. Discovery is excited to be able to engage with our fans live at many comics around the world and will not be scheduling DC FanDome for 2022.”
