Tom Hanks Says He Hasn’t Been Contacted By Marvel Studios For A Role

Tom Hanks has revealed he hasn’t been approached by Marvel Studios for a role in the MCU.

Tom Hanks is an actor whose career spans decades and has dabbled in many genres. The actor started out in the 80s playing mostly comedy roles before branching out into more dramatic roles. Generally, however, the actor tends to avoid big franchises outside of his role as Woody in the toy story movies.

Recently, the actor portrayed the character of Geppetto in Robert Zemekis’ live-action remake of Pinocchio. While promoting the film, the inevitable question of possible involvement in a Marvel film arose. Speaking to the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Tom Hanks said that to his knowledge, Marvel Studios hadn’t approached him for a role in any of the films:

“No! Not to my knowledge, did they…I don’t know, I don’t know. Boy, talk about kingdom coin, you know, it’s like the holy cow!”

Tom Hanks went on to praise Marvel Studios and what they’ve done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

“Look, I haven’t seen them all, I’ll give it to you right now. But the ones I’ve seen, I’ve never walked away without thinking, ‘There’s some great performances in there, man, these people really gave it their all.’ I don’t know how they do that, I don’t know. And then, after that, it’s like, ‘Did they look at the theme that I wanted to see?’ And I can tell you they’re all really good, Josh, they’re all really good.
