Anthony Richardson was born in Gainesville, Florida to his parents, mother LaShawnda Lane, in May 2001; however, there is no information about his father.
Anthony Jobbin’s uncle Tanka Lane and his mother cared for him. According to the official Florida Gators website, the player remains in contact with his father, but his uncle played an important role in his upbringing.
Richardson learned to throw the ball at a young age from his uncle Tanka, a former football player, who often accompanied him to practices and games. He was in sixth grade when Tanka died and there is no information about his father.
Anthony Richardson’s mother, LaShawnda, grew up in Miami and came to Gainesville in 2013 in search of a better life for the family to find affordable housing and a job.
Anthony has a brother named Cory, who was born in Tennessee. When Richardson competed in a throwing competition at Miramar Elementary School in fourth grade, LaShawnda was able to clearly understand her uncle’s message.
Richardson, who received his first verbal offer from Florida in the spring of 2018, signed with the Gators in July of that year following a stellar second campaign.
When he received offers from Southern Miss and Louisville, he began to attract more attention from college recruiters.
