Early life
Barbara Walters was born in Boston in 1929 (although she said in an on-camera interview that she was born in 1931). His parents are Dena and Louis “Lou” Walters (born Louis Abraham Warmwater). Both of her parents were Jewish and descended from immigrants from the Russian Empire. Abraham Isaac Warmwater, Walters’ paternal grandfather, was born in ód, Poland, and immigrated to the UK where he adopted the name Abraham Walters (the original surname was Warmwasser). Lou, Walters’ father, moved to New York with his father and two brothers on August 28, 1909, having been born in London in 1898. In 1910 his mother and four sisters came. Her father ran the Latin Quarter nightclub when she was a child. With EM, this club belonged. originally based in Boston, Massachusetts, was Loew. Lorimar Television CEO Merv Adelson was her third husband. 1981 saw their marriage and 1984 saw their divorce. In 1986 they remarried, and in 1992 they divorced again.
While in college, Walters dated attorney Roy Cohn, who claimed to have proposed to her the night before she married Lee Guber, but Walters denied this. She cited her enduring love for Cohn as a sign of appreciation for his help in facilitating the adoption of her daughter, Jacqueline.
