Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will lead the bandwagon of Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film will be an important addition to the MCU lineup as it is set to introduce Kang the Conqueror, one of the main antagonists of the multiverse saga. With D23 Expo set to reveal another round of major announcements after SDCC 22, it’s being reported that Ant-Man 3 may be the darkest MCU project yet.
Janet Van Dyne actress Michelle Pfeiffer D23 Expo has revealed some interesting details from the film’s script. In a quick short that was released to hint at the event announcements, the trio would have a different storyline than the last two parts.

A Threatening Scenario Could Change the MCU’s Future
In the clip revealed at the D23 event, we can catch a glimpse of Michelle Pfeiffer shedding light on how this film will change the usual spectrum of MCU themes. According to her, this movie is going to be darker than anything in MCU.
From a first look shown to audiences at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, it can be hinted that MCU is already on its way to making Kang an extreme force of malevolence.
As there are rumors among fans that this movie might finally feature Ant-Man deaths, a statement from Michelle Pfeiffer all but confirms it:
“It gets, at times, a little darker than we did. And it’s epic. »
In the SDCC teaser, it was also revealed through Kang’s words that he’s already killed multiple Avengers in different dimensions, so if all the pieces fit together, it makes more sense.

Ant-Man 3 director agrees with Michelle Pfeiffer
Ant-Man is still looked upon by MCU fans as a fun and lighthearted franchise. But now it looks like the trio will be a major transition to the classic theme.
While Pfeiffer described the film as darker now, Peyton Reed, the film’s director had only hinted earlier that this film was going to take a twist from his usual take:
“Well, I think we were excited to be able to do a third Ant-Man movie and do a trilogy. And we knew if we were going to do that, we wanted to do some things differently. We really wanted to take a left turn and make an even more epic film, while advancing the story of these family dynamics.
It’s also notable that Kang is one of Marvel Comics’ most iconic antagonists. So surely there would have been a lot of questions raised if his portrayal wasn’t one step above what we’ve seen in the MCU before.

The importance of Ant-Man 3 in the multiverse saga
Ant-Man 3 is going to be one of the key parts of the multiverse saga. This film will set up the Kang played by Jonathan Majors even before his full-fledged appearance in Avengers: Kang Dynasty.

So facing him in the Quantum Realm surely won’t be a strawberry experience for the Scott Lang family. Some theories also foreshadow the fate of Hank Pym by Michael Douglas and Janet by Michelle Pfeiffer. It’s obvious Paul Rudd’s character is going to be in the middle of the fire with all of these grim circumstances around him changing the entire MCU storyline for good.
