Marvel star Charlie Cox recently opened up about his return as Matt Murdock in Daredevil: Born Againsharing his thoughts on how the character will fit into the larger MCU.
Charlie Cox first appeared as Matt Murdock in the Netflix series daredevil. While there has been some uncertainty as to whether Marvel’s Netflix series took place in the same continuity as the rest of the MCU, that appears to have been buried with the character’s appearance in a series of Marvel projects. .
Following an appearance in Spider-Man: No Coming Home and an upcoming appearance in She-Hulk: LawyerCharlie Cox Will Direct His Own Marvel Series Again When Daredevil: Born Again is coming to Disney Plus.
After his D23 appearance, Charlie Cox spoke to Extra about what fans can expect Daredevil: Born Again and his future role in the MCU.
The actor revealed that he has yet to see a script for born againso his comments on the next one daredevil revival are purely speculative. However, it looks like the series will be a new direction for the character rather than a continuation of the stories seen in the Netflix series.
talk about how born again would relate to the previous daredevil series, Charlie Cox said:
” I know nothing. I haven’t seen a script… My feeling is, based on the title ‘Born Again’, I think the meaning is that it’s a new beginning, it’s going to be different, it’s going to be totally different. It will be new stories and new ideas.
While Matt Murdock’s iteration seen in Daredevil: Born Again – as good as She-Hulk and No coming home – is likely to be canonically the same iteration seen in the Netflix series, it looks like the Disney Plus show will draw a line under this series’ storylines to start from square one.
Cox was also asked if Marvel fans can expect to see Daredevil team up with the Avengers at some point in the future. The actor joked “I see him as a key member of the Avengers, imperative to everything they do.”
