House of the Dragon Episode 4 had a lot of twists, turns, and politics, and the Episode 5 preview sets it all up for the bigger questions raised by Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne. Let’s do a breakdown to try and figure out what we can expect in the next episode.
House Of The Dragon Episode 5 Trailer Breakdown
The trailer opens with King Viserys and Rhaenyra sitting in the highest seats in a room. Viserys announces that he is proposing a royal marriage for his daughter. And then the scene boils down to two dragons flying in the open sea, with a voiceover saying that marriage will be a new era for dragons.
Rhaenyra accepted King Viserys’ marriage proposal, on the condition that he punish Otto Hightower for what he said and did. Even if Otto wasn’t completely at fault, his judgment could have compromised Rhaenyra’s reputation as an heiress.
The scene then cuts to Lord Corlys and his wife. His wife tells Corlys that Rhaenyra’s estate will be contested and knives will come out. And just then, we see a fight probably raging in the room where Viserys announced his daughter’s wedding.
Presumably some people might have raised questions about Princess’s virginity or toasted the rumor that she was in a pleasure house with Daemon. For this, King had to order the eyes of the person who disrespected his daughter to be gouged out.
We then see Daemon and Lord Corlys in a different configuration. We can probably say that they are now in alliance. But the trailer doesn’t give a clear picture about it.
We then hear the voice of Otto Hightower saying:The king will die, and if Rhaenyra succeeds him, war will follow.”
Just then, we see Rhaenyra in her royal robes stumble as if someone is attacking her. This is probably the sequel scene where the fight rages in the lobby during the announcement.
Otto’s voiceover continues as he says to Alicent Hightower, “Prepare Aegon to rule!”
As King released Otto Hightower from duty, this scene is likely where he was leaving King’s Landing. As he left, he gave the final piece of advice to his daughter, Alicent. And that ends the trailer!
The next episode will bring action and more questions about Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne.
