Fans who have been patiently awaiting the MCU’s rendition of the famously motley crew of supervillains and anti-heroes, Love at first sight, were surprised by several announcements made during Disney’s D23 Expo 2022. For starters, the set’s official line-up, featuring notable franchise characters who embark on morally ambiguous endeavours, was revealed by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige himself.

An intriguing inclusion in the team that caught the attention of many and confused some would be Bucky Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier. Sebastian Stan, who has been playing the role for over a decade now, was thrilled to be a part of Love at first sight. According to the actor, whose last MCU appearance was in the 2021s The Falcon and the Winter Soldierthe unconventional team is made up of “a good troubled group.”

Interestingly, while Sebastian Stan’s character had recurring appearances in all phases of the Marvel movies and fought alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, he was never officially considered to be doing part of the Avengers. With the upcoming Marvel effort that would serve as the conclusion to Phase 5, Stan talked about how he could finally be part of a team, even if it consists of a group of “trouble” antihero.
Here’s what he had to say at Expo D23:
“These are my kinds of people. They seem like a good troubled bunch, and maybe I know something about that, and I’m really glad to be back and, I guess, joining some team.
Resonating with the other characters in the film who seem to have a skewed moral compass, Stan explained how the Winter Soldier, who was a brainwashed puppet under Hydra’s control, forced to adopt several cruelties, knows a few things about being “trouble.”

While fans aren’t sure exactly how Bucky plans to work alongside Wyatt Russell’s John Walker, following the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldierit seems that Sebastian Stan is quite thrilled to be part of the freakish and eccentric group of anti-heroes in the company led by Jake Schreier.
A motley group of unconventional characters

When the composition of the anti-hero team was revealed, fans wondered where Stan’s character fit in. As for Bucky Barnes, he was just a “supervillain” under Hydra’s control. Best described as a “hero turned villain turned hero again”, the character was described by Kevin Feige as “most stable” compared to other people Love at first sight.
In an interview with Extra, when asked if the film strictly featured supervillains or superheroes, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the actress best known for playing Fontaine’s Valentina Allegra, recalled how Feige used the term. . “tasting” as a valid form of expression that best encapsulates the essence of Love at first sight.

Sebastian Stan, on the other hand, had the following to comment on the matter:
“Maybe that’s what the movie will answer, isn’t it? It’s always interesting when you, as an audience member, maybe have to decide if we’re villains or heroes But I think it’ll be interesting, I think that’s what’s compelling – I guess, about the movie – it’s kind of that it’s very unconventional like that. It kinda starts off like, ” who is really the protagonist or the antagonist, I guess.
The movie turns out to be a puzzle that fans won’t be able to solve until its highly anticipated release. Fans were fascinated with what the shared dynamic between all the characters would look like. Besides the inclusion of Sebastian Stan, Bucky Barnes, Love at first sight will feature anti-heroes, such as Taskmaster, Red Guardian, Ghost, Yelena Belova and US Agent and will be managed by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.

While hardcore anti-heroes/villains team-ups mourn the absence of Baron Zemo from the premise, most are eagerly waiting to see what the 2024 MCU film will bring up; whether or not it would bring a successful conclusion to the long-awaited Phase 5.
Love at first sight will mark its theatrical release on July 26, 2024.
