The former Australian player, now 70, has become a grandfather.
He is the proud parent of two young women named Tracey and Fiona. Before the age of 20, he himself had had two children. Maureen was the name of his first wife.
Leigh expressed her sadness for not giving enough time to her family despite being a happy unit. Matthews was a relatively young man when he started his family, and he consistently spent a lot of time training after work.
Because he was so focused on his craft, he felt like his family wasn’t his first concern.
His first marriage to his wife ended and he later had a successful union with his second wife, Deborah. Since then, Matthews has struggled to make up for the time he lost with his daughters, his second wife, Deb, and his three grandchildren.
His grandson Ky played with the Mount Martha Under-10s for the first season of his baseball career.

Even though Matthews’ mother has never attended a single one of her son’s VFL games, his father, Ray, and mother, Lorna, have always been very supportive of his football career.
When no other mom was around to watch the sports, her mom was the only one to show up. She was so anxious she couldn’t bring herself to go see him play Hawthorne.
On the other hand, his father had never missed one of his son’s football games and had never missed a single one.
