Previously, numerous reports detailed how Warner Bros. Discovery was looking to replace Walter Hamada, the current president of DC Films. For that, they had Dan Lin in mind – the famed Hollywood mogul credited with producing some of the major mainstream movie titles.
According to recent rumors, the media conglomerate, which seems to be going through a difficult time at the moment, has started negotiations with Lin. Things were looking up for the company.
Alas, the latest developments point to a continued search for the next head of the DC Films and TV unit. This is believed to be due to Dan Lin rejecting the offer. While Warner Bros. was actively looking for someone to keep the ship of their DC efforts afloat, unfortunately they seem to have missed the mark at the moment.

The real reason for the refusal, however, cannot be established. When it comes to clearing things up, neither Warner Bros. Discovery did not speak, nor Dan Lin. It’s safe to assume that we won’t be getting a concrete answer any time soon.
However, many believe that Chairman and CEO David Zaslav may have been the one to shut down the ongoing negotiations. Apparently the reason was a specific comment made by Lin, which may not have suited the CEO.
Is David Zaslav to blame?

Most of us are aware of the recent rumors hinting at how David Zaslav was planning to restore the Snyderverse. When it comes to the mark that Zack Snyder’s creative prowess left on the history of DC movies, the influence is simply undeniable.
With fans’ continued devotion and ever-growing outcry over wanting the script restored that Snyder was opting for for future films, it’s no wonder David Zaslav was quick to take notice. Recent developments surrounding the flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom have led fans to reintroduce several elements that imply Zack Snyder’s potential DC Universe return.
How does Dan Lin tie into this narrative, you might ask?

In a podcast, Lin, while conversing on the topic of DC, made a comment aimed at Zack Snyder loyalists that made much of today’s DC-loving audience wary of the Lego movie producer. When the hosts joked about “crazy Snyderverse fans”, Lin made a dry and sardonic response and called them “bots” and “Autobot”.
This comment referred to claims reported earlier this year that detailed #ReleaseTheSnyderCut as a choreographed attempt by Zack Snyder to gain support for the effort and involved fake, automated bots at the forefront of internet movement participation.

This comment may not go under David Zaslav’s radar. If David Zaslav is indeed pushing for a future that relies on the vision Snyder has for the DCEU narrative, then such a remark from Dan Lin may not have aligned with the company’s goals. This may be one of the reasons why the negotiations were unsuccessful and did not gain credibility. The two may have clashed over what they want to see for DC’s future.
However, these are only speculations and assumptions. Nothing tactile. So far, none of the parties involved have had anything to comment on. One can only hope that Warner Bros. Discovery will manage to prevent his ship from sinking completely in the days to come.
Nevertheless, the search for a competent DC film and television director continues.
