marvel’s Eternals’ Actor Patton Oswalt kind of confirmed there would be a sequel to the movie in early August. He also added that fan-favorite actor Harry Styles (at least his stans noted) would be returning to reprise his role as Eros from Titan/Starfox in the sequel, with Chloe Zhao also returning to direct.
There is a lot of potential for a second Eternals film since the movie already had a stellar cast of notable industry names like Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Barry Keoghan, Kit Harington, and more. But it’s specifically Styles’ character, Eros of Titan, whose future in the MCU may be in trouble because of the character’s history in the comics.

Eternals’ Eros Isn’t As Charming As You Think
Harry Styles is undoubtedly one of the most handsome faces in the entertainment industry today, not to mention the fact that he was part of the famous teenage pop group called One Direction.
So it’s only natural that Marvel cast Styles as Eros, a charming womanizer who looks just as handsome as Styles does in the comics. But Marvel will eventually land the character in big trouble if he continues to appear in the MCU.

Jim Starlin is the man behind the creation of the terrifying MCU villain Thanos, as well as his brother Eros. Starlin is also very concerned about how Marvel will handle Eros in any of the projects he will be added to in the future.
During an interview with Inverse, the 72-year-old comic book artist cited one big reason he’s intrigued by the character’s future –
“I have no idea what they’re going to do with him. I kind of left him as a sociopath, and he’s kind of a sexual predator. So I’ll be curious to see how the Aeros MCU compares to the other. Especially nowadays. So it’s always tricky.
For the uninitiated, Eros is accused of sexual assault in the comics, which is yet another reason for Marvel to drop the character altogether.
With the obvious implication that this would be a PR suicide, it’s also important to note that he’s played by the very famous Harry Styles, and Marvel just can’t afford to let Styles of side in a future production, either because of its popularity.

Eternals Fans Now Have Mixed Feelings For Harry Styles’ Eros
The information about Eros’ history in the comics as a sexual predator came as a surprise to many, with some shocked and others ok with it because it’s all fiction.

Problematic people exist in real life and in fiction. If you, as an adult, can’t separate the two concepts, you don’t need to be allowed out. That said, what’s the point of pretending? Write the story of the flawed character and keep moving forward

It’s crazy that a lot of fans are OK with having a sexual predator in the MCU, even though it’s all fictional. But it’s also important to have characters like Eros, who isn’t completely perfect in a moral sense, to be in the MCU because it’s all about staying true to the source material, although that can also be worked on in future projects.
